Administrators and staff representing Human Resources Departments are invited to join this informative overview of effective strategies to imbed abuse risk management strategies in the recruitment and hiring process to increase student safety and prevent child sexual abuse. Praesidium will discuss best practices in reviewing and utilizing applications, references, interviews, and background checks. This workshop will include case studies and discussion designed to help identify red flags in the screening process. Additionally, this workshop will share tips for developing and communicating messaging that deters would-be offenders, such as “abuse will not go undetected at our district” and “preventing sexual abuse of students is a district priority.” The second part of this workshop will focus on effective supervision practices, how they relate to your district’s abuse risk management efforts, and review best practices in collecting and utilizing documentation as part of your district’s abuse risk management framework.
New Resources such as the new orientation packets for walk-on personnel and part-timers, BP on Professional Boundaries, new ACAP training (provides administrators effective strategies to address boundary violations) with staff will be shared to support district needs in safeguarding the hiring process.
